At the Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science Alumni day on the 6th of November, the Christiaan Huygens Foundation collected more than 240 euros! Our thanks go out to all the alumni and others present that have donated so generously. With your support we will be able to provide students an opportunity to improve education in development countries. A lot of thanks as well to Wines & Wiskeys in Delft and the EEMCS faculty for enabling us to organise the raffles.
On Friday the 6th of November 2009, the TU Delft will be hosting a Computer Science, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering alumni day, organised in co-operation with W.I.A.C. 'Constantijn Huygens' and the ETV. The Christiaan Huygens Foundation will also be present.
Looking back on our first year: In the first financial book year of CHF we boldly budgeted our total income at 10,000 Euros. Thanks to the generosity of those at the Christiaan Huygens monument unveiling ceremony, we could confirm, very early in the year, that two grants of 500 Euros each would be available (2008/2009 academic year) for students wishing to undertake a charitable internship aboard in support of the foundations goal. These grants were awarded to two students that are going to Sierra Leon to help build a school.
This Christmas, the Christiaan Huygens Foundation will provide a special and luxurious luncheon for the staff and students of the EEMCS faculty. Visitors will be updated on the milestones accomplished, and live music will be provided.

Marjan van Kraaij, mathematics and computer science co-ordinator of the TU Delft held her farewellparty on the 19th of June. Marjan was always very committed to students and worked in close cooperation with Student Society 'Christiaan Huygens'.
In the announcement of her parting, Marjan indicated not to expect any gifts. Instead, she requested to make a contribution to the Christiaan Huygens Foundation. Of course, the Foundation is very grateful for this. For this reason, the board has decided to name the first project initiated by the Foundation after Marjan van Kraaij.
On friday the 30th of May, 2008 the Christiaan Huygens Foundation was officially founded. This was celebrated together with the revelation of a new statue of Christiaan Huygens (http://ch.tudelft.nl/beeld/); an event where the first funds were raised for the Foundation. A raffles was held for an X-Box 360 or one of two watches, donated by Microsoft and juweller Warnaar. The benefits of the ticket sale went to the Foundation. The enthousiasm of all present was seen in the number of tickets: over € 800,- was raised.
